Its great!

I use this app a lot to stream movies from my NAS, but it has caused my iPad 2 to reboot several times while playing a movie.

I would not recommend this app. Its Slick with the interaction but it streams via AirPlay mirroring and not AirPlay resulting in a choppy and lower quality playback. If you arent interested in steaming to your ATV this will do what it says. If you want to stream video to your ATV this is not the app for you. I now use something from Ractor but there is more out there.

The AC3 decoder has been removed on the latest version. It doesnt play most videos anymore.

Without the patent infringing decoding that we have come to know and love from the open-source media solutions (VLC, ffmpeg, XBMC, many others) this app is now useless to me. The majority of my files are H.264 with AC3/A52/Dolby Digital (3 names for the same thing) and support for that audio codec has been dropped. The developers should license Dolby Digital decoding for use in the app. As it stands now, I cannot reasonably update to the latest version. It was also unable to playback 720p x264 encoded files with AC3 audio smoothly even when it worked. So I suppose it was useless from day 1.

I have been a long time fan of this app. Im very disappointed about now. Here a better work around then whats on their site....DO NOT UPDATE. I did and deleted before it transferred to my Mac. Until this is all sorted I wont update...

lack of ac3 audio codec makes this a poor purchase

But it falls slightly short to my expectations,,,,it would be awesome if u can create a playlist and let the videos just play. with out have to press play after each video in the playlist if u guys can fix that this app would be perfect. Thank you

Id happily pay $20 or more for an in app purchase of a Dolby license for AC3 and DTS. The desktop helper idea is awful. :(

To buy this app is to throw away $4, unless you enjoy watching videos with no audio. This app and other ones like it should be pulled from the App Store until they are able to function properly.

Works with very few audio codecs. For files that are downloaded from itunes, which be able to play with audio, the program typically crashes. Until the stability and codecs are fixed this program is now useless. Please fix these problems or return my money to me!

As with certain other iOs media players, Its Playing has dropped support for some of the most common audio codecs in circulation today, thereby crippling its functionality as a video player. As there are options still available in the app store that continue to offer full(er) codec support, there is absolutely no cause to recommend this one.

Clean and simple. Im happy with it.

Since the last update, the audio issues have been resolved. Now everything works great! Also has a great feature of fetching subtitles from the Internet for you by pressing just one button; works for almost any movie file. Highly recommended.

Buyer beware! Worst App ever! Do not buy! Do not believe the description of this app. Just wasting your money if u do. Does not play everything. You cant stream movies from iTunes and playing any other type of movie is slow and very choppy cuts in and out. Only way it woks is if you download the movie to its playing on the iPad or iPhone. Refund please!!!!!!

Deleted this app due to underperformance.

The app plays just about anything and with the latest update, the playback is smooth, and solid even while zoomed. The network access feature is great - I use it to retrieve files from my Linux server and it works like a charm. This app beats the default video player, no question! UPDATE: with the latest improvement, the app plays AC3 and Dolby encoded files seamlessly - the best player app just got better!! UPDATE 2: The app keeps on improving with awesome networking and cloud support... Apple wishes its player was this good!

The latest update has fixed any issues I had with this app. This is hands down the best media player available in the App Store.

What a great update. Im really digging the sleeker design, easier access to settings and file info, and finally the network device/share discovery is working again for me. The app seems more responsive and stable too. As I said, great update.

So far at least. I have a few HDDs via USB attached to the 1tb (built in) WDTV Live Hub and am able to stream from WDTV Live Hub to my iPod touch 32GB 5th gen via network. I am able to access built in drive and one USB drive. Havent tried to connect to a 3rd yet. Once I do and if it works Ill give 5 star! As is Im happy and the fetch subtitle feature is icing on the cake.
